Former Judge Tracie Hunter Found Guilty
A former judge was dragged out of a courtroom in Hamilton County, Ohio, after being sentenced to six months in jail. Former Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter was found guilty of having an unlawful interest in a public contract. Hunter allegedly gave court documents to her brother, a county employee, in order to help him keep his job.
“What she wants to do is play by her own set of rules,” special prosecutor Scott Croswell said before Hunter’s sentencing. “That’s the very attitude and the very conduct that put her in the predicament that she’s in and, frankly, has caused all this pain to her and caused all this turmoil to the community.”
Hunter has already been stripped of her law license and lost her job as a judge. Many people saw the prospect of jail time as too harsh, and several other judges within the county and state wrote letters of recommendation to tell the judge Hunter did not deserve jail time. But she was sentenced to six months anyway.
After being sentenced, Hunter went limp and had to be dragged from the courtroom. A supporter wearing a “Justice for Judge Hunter” T-shirt rushed the judge and was quickly arrested by bailiffs.
