Trump On The Attack Against Democratic Candidates

The feud between President Donald Trump and four Democratic Congresswomen known as “The Squad” keeps escalating, with Trump issuing new attacks on Twitter almost daily. This time, Trump said he almost won in Minnesota in 2016 and predicted the voters in that state would go for him in 2020 as part of a backlash against Rep. Ilhan Omar. Omar is a progressive Democrat and Somali-born Muslim.

“In 2016 I almost won Minnesota. In 2020, because of America hating anti-Semite Rep. Omar, & the fact that Minnesota is having its best economic year ever, I will win the State!” Trump tweeted.

In response to Omar’s comments that progressive Democrats would be a “nightmare” for Trump, he wrote, “‘We are going to be a nightmare to the President,’ she say. No, AOC Plus 3 are a Nightmare for America!”

The four Congresswomen have maintained their composure in the face of Trump’s attacks. Omar pinned a tweet to her page in which she quoted the poet Maya Angelou: “You may shoot me with your words / You may cut me with your eyes / You may kill me with your hatefulness / But still, like air, I’ll rise.” At a rally in Maryland on Thursday, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a representative from New York, told the crowd, “It has taken us 240 years to have this unique composite in the Congress, in this moment, and we will not go back.”
