This is the scoop
It takes real innovation to look at something as delightful as an ice cream cone and think, “I can make this better.” Sam Nassif and Oliver Greenwald, both 16 years old, invented an ice cream cone drip protector that you can eat. They came up with the idea when they were ten years old.
Their invention is called “The Drip Drop” – a ring made out of waffle cone that can come with extra toppings and catch the melted ice cream from getting all over fingers and chins and clothes. So, not only did they add some extra bites to your ice cream cone experience, they also solved the sticky, dripping-ice-cream-mess problem. The boys’ invention is also expected to reduce the number of paper napkins used up in ice cream shops.
Tanktalkers explains that the two friends have been innovative and entrepreneurial since they were young, “whether selling ‘mud balls’ on the beach at age 5, selling theme bracelets to residents at a summer resort (earning thousands of dollars) at age 8, starting a business to string tennis rackets, or building and selling an app to streamline communication on school campuses.”
When their deal for The Drip Drop with Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank fell through, they didn’t give up. They found support through Kickstarter to get their product out in Denver.
