New Orleans has ideal weather in January, with temperatures in the 60s. Hotel prices are down 20% in between New Year’s and Mardi Gras. It is a great time to do a lot of walking and to experience the culture of different neighborhoods such as the French Quarter and the Garden District.
The cheapest time to take a cruise is the first two weeks of January. The price is $184 a person for a four day cruise from Miami to Cozumel while the same trip on December 26 costs $434 a person. You can use the money you save for something extra. Some cruises offer an option for you to depart the ship and stay in a hotel for a night or more. An added bonus to traveling during this time is the decrease in the crowds.
