A Day To Remember

Today is a big day for Germany as it marks a day of unity. It remembers when the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Germany united to create one single, federal Germany on October 3rd, 1990.

However, although Germany is said to be unified many still believe there are strong differences between East and West Germany. Many think that West Germany is focused on success with a ‘me first’ mentality while East Germany takes more time for family life. Although the differences seem small they still believe the two sidesz haven’t grown together completely.

The last physical barrier between East and West Germany ‘The Berlin Wall’ fell on November 9th, 1989. So, today is a day of remembrance and hope for a strong and unified country.
