Rihanna Wanted To Make A More Realistic Mannequin

Fans are praising Rihanna for using curvaceous mannequins in her Fenty pop-up stores. Unlike traditional, ultra-slender mannequins, Fenty’s mannequins have “hip dips” and “stomach pouches.”

Rihanna has always said that her Fenty line would be size-inclusive, and her new store in the SoHo district of New York City stayed true to Rihanna’s word. Fans were thrilled to see their body types represented at a trendy, high-end store. People.com compiled tweets from some satisfied shoppers.

“It’s beautiful and a relief to see. Realistic models and mannequins can only benefit the stores/designers,” one customer wrote. “People can see what they will literally look like in the clothes selling more clothing and lowering returns.”

“I was today years old when I saw my first mannequin with hip dips like me! Thank you Fenty,” another wrote.

Rihanna said she’s committed to having models and mannequins of all shapes and sizes involved in promoting Fenty clothing.

“Of course we have our fit models, which is the standard size from factories,” Rihanna told E! after her pop-up store opened in SoHo. “But then I want to see it on my body. I want to see it on a curvy girl with thighs and a little bit of booty and hips. All of these things I take into consideration because I want women to feel confident in my stuff.”
