As expected, the nuptials were full of laughs

Comedian Kathy Griffin got married in a surprise ceremony on New Year’s Eve. Lily Tomlin officiated the ceremony between Griffin and her boyfriend of many years, Randy Bick.

“What was supposed to be a shallow, ‘toot it and boot it’ one-night stand has grown and flourished into something far more meaningful,” Tomlin said. “They stayed together. Then they couldn’t stay away from one another.”

Griffin and Bick didn’t announce their engagement until just hours before the ceremony. Then, they revealed it to the world with a tweet.

“Gonna post a surprise announcement any minute now. Hope it will put a smile on your face,” Griffin wrote to her followers. She then revealed she was getting married at midnight.

Griffin, who is 59 years old, wore a traditional white dress for the ceremony. She shared a photo on Instagram from her first date with Bick, which happened in 2011.

“This was our first formal date in September 2011! We are in the back of a limo provided by the one only @GloriaEstefan because her team arranged for me to surprise her as a back up ‘dancer’ when she performed at the Alma awards!” Griffin joked.

Tomlin and other guests at the wedding shared clips of the ceremony, which lasted only fourteen minutes, to Twitter and Instagram.
