Congress is working towards approving COVID-19 relief package
After weeks of passing and denying bills for the stimulus checks, the House finalizes the coronavirus (COVID-19) relief package with increased COVID-19 disaster relief payments of $2,000 Americans. This issue has divided the Democrats and Republicans but it seems that President Trump is in support of dispersing higher stimulus checks.

On Sunday, President Trump signed relief legislation and complained about the relief legislation not paying enough in the individual disbursements following the vote of 275-134 with the required two-thirds majority to advance the bill. Only until Trump signed the relief bill he noticed that stimulus checks were too low.
Though there was a majority of members are out of Washington D.C. and relied on a proxy vote (a House colleage0ue can vote on behalf of an absent mentor) that was passed in May by the House in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial COVID-19 relief package took months of deliberation in the Capitol that recommended $600 payments for the long-anticipated stimulus checks after months of delay.
The House voted overwhelmingly to roughly triple pandemic-related stimulus checks — but it may amount to more of a political maneuver than an effort to ultimately deliver additional relief https://t.co/by1OWXosZS

After finalizing the initial COVID-19 relief package, the Democrats requested more funding for bigger stimulus checks and the Republican-controlled Senate agreed to authorize the bill. House Speaker (D-Calif.) Nancy Pelosi responded to Trump’s opinion of the relief bill, releasing a statement on Sunday to reiterate the Democrats’ demand for better stimulus checks.
According to Sen. Bernie Sanders, the House passed the bill to increase the stimulus checks to $2,000 and the Senate will be convening tomorrow at noon for the next step of approval.
