Missing Woman’s Mother Takes Custody Of Her Grandchildren

Gloria Farber, the mother of missing Connecticut woman Jennifer Dulos, gained custody of Dulos’ five children with her ex-husband, Fotis Dulos. Dulos has been missing for nearly two months. Her ex-husband and his girlfriend are suspected of playing a role in her May disappearance.

In court, lawyers for Farber argued that the children haven’t lived with their father since their parents’ 2017 divorce and that he could pose a danger to them.

“Ms. Farber has acted as a parent to the children since the plaintiff disappeared on May 24, 2019,” the court said after granting custody to Farber. “Their safety and security have been paramount. They are emotionally bonded to her. It would be harmful to them to be removed from her care.”

Dulos was last seen after dropping off her children at school in late May. Later, Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend were seen on surveillance videos dumping garbage bags at dozens of locations around Connecticut. When police searched Jennifer Dulos’ home in New Canaan, they found blood and evidence that the crime scene had been cleaned.

Fotis’ lawyer says his client is innocent, and that the children should be returned to him.

“Fotis misses his children deeply,” said Norm Pattis, Fotis Dulos’ lawyer. “The irresponsible manner in which the state has proceeded against him is costing his children the chance for a real relationship with a man who loves them deeply. This is a travesty of justice. We are evaluating his appellate options.”
