Thunberg gifted an EV from actor Arnold Scwarzenegger
Greta Thunberg, the teenage climate change activist who gave a rousing speech at the UN last month, got a special gift from Arnold Schwarzenegger: an eco-friendly electric car.
After giving her speech at the UN headquarters in New York several weeks ago, Thunberg has been touring the United States, staging climate change protests every Friday in places as diverse as South Dakota and Southern California.
. Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, said he was “starstruck” when he met the teen.
“I love seeing someone who doesn’t just complain but gets out and does something about it. You inspire me. Keep up with school and I’d love to host you in Vienna at our @R20_AWS so you can inspire even more people,” Schwarzenegger tweeted.
Thunberg gained international fame when she encouraged fellow teens and schoolchildren to skip school on Fridays to stage environmental protests. Her latest stop on her U.S. tour was at a Lakota Indian reservation, where the local residents are trying to protect their land from environmental destruction.
“Incredible honoured to visit Pine Ridge @tokata_ie and the Lakota people in their beautiful homelands. The #FridaysForFuture movement stand in solidarity with your struggles and hardships, and the struggles of all indigenous peoples in protecting their land, water and traditions,” Thunberg tweeted on October 7.
