Costas said in an interview with the Associated Press, “The doctors told me the infection has to run its course, which is 2-to-3 weeks, which covers the entire Olympics. After battling pink eye, sportscaster Bob Costas is back in the anchor seat to host NBC’s prime-time Olympic coverage.
The “Today” show caught up with Costas, who says he’s happy to be back but hasn’t completely recovered. Costas hosted five nights of Olympic coverage before the infection in his left eye spread to his right.
Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira took over for the sportscaster.
