Naperville Police help victims of recent crime
Good deeds do pay off! Two sisters in Naperville, Illinois set up a lemonade stand to raise money for the hungry, with plans to donate the proceeds to Feeding America. But the nine dollars they raised over two and a half hours was stolen by a group of teens.
“At first, I thought it was a prank, and I was really in shock, but then I saw them dash off and go super fast. After that, a couple minutes later, I knew that it wasn’t a prank. In that way, my heart sort of sank. It wasn’t too hard, but it was really stressful,” one of the sisters, Alizay Kashim, told local reporters.
But after hearing about the theft, Naperville police came to the sisters’ rescue by donating $170. The sisters got their lemonade stand up and running again, and they raised a total of $350 after the story hit the local news.
“I knew [the police] were coming, but I thought it was going to be like one or two cars, and they were just going to buy some lemonade, but it was like a whole line of cars, and they came out, and they donate so much money,” Alizay said. “It was so great. I really appreciate it.”
