A woman who claimed she’d been kidnapped and held captive called the police in Jefferson County, Alabama, over the weekend, saying she’d witnessed another woman’s murder. When the police managed to trace the woman by pinging her cell phone location, the kidnapped woman led them to the body of 31-year-old Kellie Ann Hughes.

Police say Hughes’ murder and the kidnapping of the second woman are connected. The second woman, who was discovered with her hands bound by zip ties, said she was held hostage because she witnessed Hughes’ killing.

Hughes died from gunshot wounds, and her body was found dumped in the woods, according to the Daily Beast. The police said two suspects are on the run, but they won’t be able to evade law enforcement much longer.

“These are some mean-spirited people,” David Agee, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Captain, said. “We will get them.”

Kellie Hughes’ brother, Branden Hughes, wrote a message to the killers on his Facebook page over the weekend.

“Kellie Ann was taken from us and the sorry evil b—–ds who did it are still free. You will be found and I hope you get the max sentence because it will be so much better than what I want to do to you,” Hughes wrote. “Please keep in mind that Kellie is my sister.. a daughter to my mother.. and just a beautiful soul all the way around.”
