Controversy Over Dakota’s SNL Sketch
‘Saturday Night Live’ is known for pushing boundaries and exploring the limits when it comes to comedy, but did their latest sketch about ISIS push the limit too far? Many people are outraged at a video parody that debuted this past Saturday when ’50 Shades’ star Dakota Johnson was hosting.
The video copied a famous commercial featuring a father dropping off his daughter at the airport to join the army – but on SNL the video featured the daughter being dropped off to join ISIS. The video shocked the audience and became a trending topic on the internet in minutes.
Watch the spoof here:
The video is a reference to young people around the world joining the terrorists group, but did SNL go too far with their parody? The vote is about half/half right now. Many are disgusted by the idea of poking fun at ISIS while others think comedy has the right to mock.
