Apple has become so ubiquitous in the tech world, that even an announcement of an announcement has the power to draw some impressive hype. Case in point, yesterday, Apple announced the opening keynote presentation for the 2021 Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple’s yearly conference event where they reveal the latest and greatest in Mac, iPhone, and iPad technology. The keynote will run at the start of the event on June 7 at 10:00 AM Pacific time, 1:00 PM Eastern. In the interest of pandemic safety, the event will be entirely online, with streaming invites sent out to members of the press.

Apple will be previewing iOS 15, iPadOS 15, WatchOS 8, MacOS 12, and TVOS 15. All we have, though, are those names; the actual details of these previews have been kept under strict lock and key, with the only possible hint being the keynote’s tagline of “And away we go.” However, the rumor mill has already begun churning out theories, with one of the most predominant being improvements to the iPad Pro’s software to bring it more in line with the processing capacities of the device’s new M1 chips.
