Sometimes, It’s Light That Keeps You From Seeing The Beauty of Our World
It was the brilliant Carl Sagan that once said, “We are made of star-stuff. Our bodies are made of star-stuff. There are pieces of star within us all.”, what Carl is addressing here is our primal connection with the stars, something that has been a part of humankind since we came into existence. We once looked to the stars for guidance and elucidation, but sadly, we now live in a world so polluted by light that many of us can’t even see the stars at all, 80% of the world can no longer appreciate the beauty of the night sky.
Having been inspired by a number of global initiatives to decrease light pollution, including the Lights Out Stars On campaign in Reykjavik, LG was inspired to join the cause and bring awareness to a grow problem that is rapidly choking out one of our world’s most beautiful celestial occurrences, the aurora borealis.
LG created a Perfect Black Sky and the Perfect Colour of Nature, in which the beauty of a dark night sky was recreated using 330,000,000 self-emitting OLED pixels which display lifelike and immersive footage of the northern lights.
