A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
In an age of oversaturation, the Masters tournament retains the quaint touch of allowing limited TV coverage. Fortunately, the weekend is the best time to watch.
The tournament lost world No. 1 Jason Day to a back injury before play began (he fell on a staircase and had to withdraw), and Tiger Woods is missing for the third time in four years. You’ll just have to watch the other guys.
Ensconce your heiner in the recliner. Here’s your Weekend TV Six-Pack…
You can get a start on the Masters on Friday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN. Charley Hoffman had a four-shot lead after Thursday’s opening round. Saturday and Sunday coverage goes to CBS, at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. for the final round from Augusta National.
Here’s a bit of an odd one for you. College hockey’s season comes to a close on Saturday night in Chicago with the title game of the Frozen Four. Minnesota-Duluth will play Denver at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Prep races for the Kentucky Derby continue with the Wood Memorial on Saturday. Irish War Cry is the morning line favorite at 7-2 in the 1 1/8-mile race at Aqueduct. NBC Sports Network will show this at 5:30 p.m.
The NBA regular-season is almost over, so here’s a possible Western Conference playoff matchup in the making: The Los Angeles Clippers against the San Antonio Spurs at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday on ESPN. Perhaps the Spurs will play some of their starters for 15 minutes or longer.
Sunday brings us the guys who turn left endlessly – it’s NASCAR. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 (and Grille) goes round and round at the repaved Texas Motor Speedway for your endless enjoyment. Fox covers all 501 miles of this baby at 1:30 p.m.
Cap the weekend with a little baseball. The
get after it on Sunday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
