New Jets Starting Quarterback Invigorates Offensive Line

Mike White led the team to a decisive victory over the Bears over the weekend.

On Saturday, the New York Jets took on the Chicago Bears on their home turf at MetLife Stadium. This game was particularly noteworthy, as it was the season debut of the Jets’ new starting quarterback, Mike White. Prior to the game, Jets coach Robert Saleh told White he didn’t need to do anything fancy for his first game, but White went ahead and did it anyway with an incredible performance.

In a 31-10 blowout for the Jets, White passed for three touchdowns and picked up 315 yards, an exemplary performance for any quarterback, to say nothing of one on his first day. After last game’s shaky performance, the Jets needed something new to reinvigorate their game, and based on his performance and the excited fan reaction, White could very well be just what they’re looking for.

“It’s always cool,” White told reporters after the game of fans chanting his name in the stands. “I’m not going to sit here and give you some quarterback cliché that I’m not focusing on that, which there are times I’m not.”

He added that “I think it would be a lot cooler if they didn’t do it when we were trying to snap the ball, but I’m not going to complain too much.”
