The red carpet, Tina Fey and Amy Pohler, the stars…there are plenty of reasons to watch the Golden Globe Awards on tonight.
But for Oscar fans, the biggest reason to tune in will be to see what evidence the Globes offer about which movies will be nominated for Academy Awards, announced Jan. 16, and which movie will win the best picture Oscar on March 2.
Whose Predicted to Win at the Golden Globe Awards?
Best performance by an actor in a supporting role could go to, Jared Leto for his phenomenal performance as a transsexual in Dallas Buyers Club. Although Michael Fassbender’s performance in 12 Years a Slave could earn him the win as well.
Best supporting actress could very likely go to Lupita Nyong’o for her stellar performance in 12 Years a Slave. However Julia Roberts, who is always a fan favorite, could win for her role in August: Osage County.
In terms of best actress in a comedy or musical our money is on either Amy Adams for her role in American Hustle or Meryl Streep for her role in August: Osage County. While Meryl is a voter favorite Amy is a 5 time nominee herself so this one should be interesting to watch.
The best actor in a comedy or musical could easily go to Christian Bale from American Hustle. However Joaquin Phoenix could possibly earn the award for his performance in the film Her. In reality this one is probably going home with Leonardo Dicaprio for his outstanding performance in Wolf of Wall Street.
For best actress in a drama, Judi Dench, Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett are all nominate. However Sandra Bullock will probably take this one for her stellar acting in the outer space set flick Gravity.
While Matthew Mcconaughey gave a truly amazing performance in Dallas Buyers Club the win will almost definitely go to Chiwetel Ejiofor for his moving role in 12 Years a Slave.
So who will win best motion picture in a comedy or musical? Well it’s between American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street and our money is on American Hustle for the win.
In terms of best picture in the drama category we’re looking at 12 Years a Slave, Gravity, Rush, Captain Phillips and Philomena as possible Globe winners. However we’re pretty confident the win will go, quite deservingly, to 12 Years a Slave.
We’ll see if we were right or not in our predictions tonight when we tune into the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards on NBC, live 8ET/5PT.
