The upcoming game will be a bit of a departure from the norm.
After its initial reveal during a presentation back in February, details on Game Freak’s new Pokémon spin-off game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, have been somewhat scarce. Luckily, that was remedied this morning with a new presentation hosted by The Pokémon Company that gave us some much-needed insight.
Welcome to the Hisui region, Trainers.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the Hisui region, an incarnation of the Sinnoh region from a time long ago before humans and Pokémon lived in harmony. Due to this separation, little is actually known about Pokémon, which is why the Galaxy Research Team is endeavoring to compile history’s very first PokéDex. In addition to catching Pokémon as usual, you’ll also need to observe and chronicle them in their natural habitats. Some Pokémon are territorial, though, so if you don’t have a Pokémon of your own to fight, you’ll need to run and hide. Fights are similar to the main Pokémon games, albeit with the extra wrinkle of being able to control the turn order of a battle by strengthening or speeding up your Pokémon’s moves.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus will feature a selection of Pokémon from the entire series, including several new Pokémon forms evolutions exclusive to this game. This includes new variations of Growlithe and Braviary (the latter doubling as a means of flight for the player) and new evolutions for Stantler and Basculin.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
