Shark Infested Waters, Literally

In honor of Shark Week what better way to kick it off but with a list of the top shark attack hotspots.

We all know that sharks love the warm water and you may not be surprised when the top three shark attack destinations are South Africa, Australia, and South Florida. Since 1905 South Africa has seen 239 attacks with 53 being fatal. Spotters may reduce these attacks but the death toll is still on the rise.

In Australia, there have been 528 attacks in the last 100 years, 136 being fatal, and 64 of these attacks being Great Whites. In South Florida there has been 687 attacks since 1827, which is more than all other states combined.

Scientists say only 4% in Florida are fatal and you have a better chance of dying from horses, bees, texting and driving, smoking, ladders, cows, toilets, falling coconuts, and much more. So its up to you if you want to push your luck and swim with the sharks.
