Goodbye to Breaking Bad, Hello to Saul

America’s most beloved meth manufacturers, Jesse and Walt, are at it again in the new spin off series, Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad set record high ratings as their last season recently came to an end. However, creator Vince Gilligan isn’t ready to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor just yet. Playing off of the malaise Jesse Pinkman gets after becoming a millionaire in the show’s finale, Better Call Saul has fans on the edge of their seat. What’s more is that Vince Gilligan has hinted that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul may make cameos on the new AMC series.

Is Doing a Spinoff on Breaking Bad Safe?

The question that arises is somewhat obvious: Can a decent show spinoff be done, and how deep of a character is Saul? Actor Bob Odenkirk has been charming Breaking Bad fans with his quick wit and comedy breakout role in the show – but many ask if this character has the deeper complexities needed to satisfy Breaking Bad fans.

Creator Vince Gilligan developed some anxiety after the show ended. Spending his time doing “mundane” activities, the creator seems to have as hard of a time waving goodbye to Breaking Bad as the actors and fans. While fully aware of the risks with doing a spinoff, Gilligan wants to proceed forward anyway. Torn between so many different offers at this time, Gilligan has developed some anxiety not knowing which way to go. “[Picking the next project] scares me. The odds of winning the lottery two weeks in a row are pretty infinitesimal.”

What We Can Expect

Set in Albuquerque, the show is destined to have a style very similar to Breaking Bad. Many of the visual hallmarks that were on the original series will be in Better Call Saul. Peter Gould is teaming up with Vince Gilligan as one-hour drama guys. They’re bringing in much of the same crew, and keeping the same style. With that they’re able to keep old characters while exploring parts of the story that were once a mystery.

Paul and Cranston have staked out their territory in the new show. Already having said they’d enjoy appearances in the prequel, the writers can finally relax. “Personally, I’d have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then,” the producer and writer confirmed.

Fans Can’t Wait for More!

Breaking Bad fans are shot and tall, rich and poor, famous and infamous. Recently this week, acting legend Sir Anthony Hopkins has confessed his love for Breaking Bad. He stated that he was interested in what all the fuss was about, and put on Breaking Bad. He went on a binge watching the series, and sent in a gushing letter of positive review where he discusses watching all five seasons back to back.

Now that Breaking Bad is over, everyone from creator Gilligan, the fans, and eve the rest of the staff right down to Cranston and Paul are all very excited Gilligan is moving forward with Better Call Saul.
