Streisand Apologizes For Defending Michael Jackson
After the recent release of the HBO documentary “Finding Neverland,” many people are showing whether their against or for the accusations against late pop star Michael Jackson. Barbara Streisand worked closely with Jackson for years and is sympathizing with Jackson in these child abuse allegations.
The documentary details the stories of two men that were abused by Michael Jackson when they were children, detailing accounts of sexual and emotional abuse by Jackson. The two men in the documentary are Wade Robson and James Safechuck, they detail how Jackson would manipulate their families to trust him. They both say that their families were trusting of Jackson because of his celebrity status and childlike demeanor.
During an interview with The Times, Streisand said that she believed Jackson’s actions “didn’t kill” the accusers [Wade Robson and James Safechuck]. On Instagram, she later apologized for her statement saying she was sorry for the misunderstanding and pain she may have caused. She later reveals that she sided with Jackson because she felt bad for Jackson’s two children.
Streisand was asked whether she believes Robson and Safechuck, she said that she absolutely believes them. In a later statement, she revealed that she believed that the parents of the young men were convinced and victimized by the fantasy of fame. Jackson promised both families that he would help their children advance their careers in entertainment.
Another statement by Streisand read, “To be crystal clear, there is no situation or circumstance where it is OK for the innocence of children to be taken advantage of by anyone.” She also clarified that she didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma the victims experienced.
