Nintendo Rolling Out New Switch Model
Next year, Nintendo will be releasing a revised model for the Switch. They believe this will help maintain the good sales they have been having. You can also look forward to new software updates. “Nintendo is still debating what new hardware and software features to include in the upgrade and weighing the cost of the features, people with knowledge of the discussions said,” reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal laments the Switch does not have the tech that is similar to that of a smartphone. Nintendo will improve Switch’s display with the update, according to sources. By doing this, the new display will possibly make the tablet smaller and more energy efficient.

The new model is expected to arrive in the summer of 2019. Nintendo is expecting high sales of the product because of many current Switch owners. They may want to upgrade because of the technology of the newer model. The Switch will not have a generational change like that of the Wii U to the Switch. It will instead be a smaller scale upgrade. Other than that, it will play the same games the original Switch featured.
The Switch will have a longer life span than the previous consoles, according to Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishim, “Up until now, the hardware lifecycle has trended at around five or six years, but it would be very interesting if we could prolong that life cycle, and I think you should be looking forward to that.” It is reported that Nintendo has sold 19.67 million Switch units and 86.93 million games worldwide.
