This week has been a huge week in the news world! With the DNC ending, Zika on the rise and the Olympics about to begin, it’s safe to say there is a lot to talk about. One of the biggest topics however has to be the rise of Zika!
So what is Zika Fever? Well it’s a disease caused by Zika virus that’s spread through mosquito bites. The CDC has issued an alert for travel to areas where Zika virus is spreading. Travelers who are pregnant or considering pregnancy should consult a doctor. There have been a few cases where the virus has hit the United States, but the majority of cases still remain outside of the U.S.
With that being said there is a huge concern for travelers on their way to Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympic games. Many have canceled their trips and many athletes have opted out of the games due to Zika…Although you may not feel as if you will ever come in contact with Zika still be sure to be cautious of the situation.
