What if boys were told they couldn’t play with cars….but girls could. If you think about this it would sound extremely weird because believe it or not at a young age we are told what toys are for boys and what toys are for girls and boys should be playing with cars and girls should be playing with dolls. Immediately you are figuring out what’s gender-appropriate and this carries through the rest of your life. You are developing what is known as social gender norms.

However, although they were norms of the past, they certainly aren’t the norms of today’s society. These norms are beginning to shift in an all new movement. This movement doesn’t gender discriminate by any means. Girls should be able to play with cars and boys should be able to play with dolls. The toys you are giving young children to play with today are literally shaping their tomorrow.

Show them that it is okay to play with what they want and be who they want to be. Nobody should be telling a young girl that they can’t be in the auto industry. Girls are taking the wheel. They are becoming the future of the auto industry. Be sure to check out the video above for more.
