A Huge Step For The Transgender Community

The first openly transgender staff member to work at the White House began her new job Tuesday, the Obama administration said. Raffi Freedman-Gurspan started her new role as the outreach and recruitment director for presidential personnel in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel.

Raffi Freedman-Gurspan said in a statement, “President Obama has long said he wants his administration to look like the American people. I have understood this to be transgender Americans.”

The first transgender appointee is even woman of color which is helping to make a huge statement. Raffi is excited for her new job and excited that she is making a mark in history.
