Carlos Correa homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Houston Astros a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday night, sending the American League Championship Series to the Bronx tied at a game apiece.
The National League series resumes Monday night (7:38 p.m. ET, TBS) in Washington, D.C., with the Nationals holding a 2-0 in the best-of-seven series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have just four hits in the two games.
NFL:
The number of winless teams dropped by half on Sunday. The New York Jets got their first victory, topping the Dallas Cowboys 24-22. That marked the Cowboys’ third straight loss. And the Washington Redskins slipped by the Miami Dolphins 17-16, earning interim coach Bill Callahan his first win. The Dolphins failed on a two-point conversion try with six seconds remaining. Still winless: The Cincinnati Bengals and Dolphins.
The Houston Texans went into Kansas City and handed the Chiefs their second straight loss, 31-24.
The San Francisco 49ers are 5-0 for the first time since 1990 after beating the slumping Los Angeles Rams 20-7.
College football:
LSU moved up to No. 2 behind Alabama in the Associated Press Top 25 poll after its victory over Florida on Saturday night. LSU jumped past Clemson, which is now third. Georgia, formerly No. 3, slipped to 10th after losing 20-17 at home in two overtimes to South Carolina. Ohio State is fourth, Oklahoma fifth.

Simone Biles won five of the six gold medals at the world gymnastics championships in Stuttgart, Germany. Her 25 world medals are a record for men and women. She will compete for the U.S. in the 2020 Olympics.
NASCAR’s second playoff race in the round of 12 was postponed by rain on Sunday and is set to continue on Monday at 2 p.m. (NBCSN).
Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis sprained his thumb during an NBA preseason game in China and returned to L.A. for an MRI. Houston Rockets guard Gerald Green may have broken his left foot in an exhibition in China. Further medical reports are awaited.
Lanto Griffin earned his first PGA Tour victory, winning the Houston Open by one shot.
