White Claw is so popular, they’re on the verge of a supply shortage
White Claw Hard Seltzer, a brand of fizzy alcohol-spiked beverages, is a cult hit among Millennials. But the drink is so popular that the U.S. supply is dwindling quickly.
“We are working around the clock to increase supply given the rapid growth in consumer demand,” Sanjiv Gajiwala, the VP of marketing for White Claw, told Business Insider. “In the meantime, we have been allocating product to our distributor partners to keep all markets in stock the best we can and will continue to do so until we get back to our normal safety stock position.”
Social media users reported that White Claw was sold out in many locations on Sunday, in anticipation of NFL football. However, they kept their sense of humor about it.
“White claws are out of stock in Philadelphia on game day what’s a girl to do[?]” @samantha_rose tweeted. “I can only blame myself for the white claw shortage since I am the one who drank most of them.”
White Claw has inspired several knockoff brands, including competitors Truly and Bon & Viv. Anheuser-Busch launched its own line of spiked seltzer water last month. Marketing experts say Millennials are looking for alcoholic drinks that have fewer carbohydrates and calories per serving.
