Target extends Black Friday from a day to the month
A majority of retailers are opting out of hosting a traditional in-store Black Friday sale event and choosing to keep their doors closed on Thanksgiving day due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Retailers have decided to close their stores on Thanksgiving day to prevent large public gatherings but are opting for other options for Black Friday sales including Target.
Target decided to turn the one-day event into a month-long promotion of weekly sales feature great deals for early holiday shopping. Target will be hosting four weeks of various promotions from Nov. 1 to 28 that starts next week.
Along with offering deals for the whole month of November, Target is also working to implement new store features for a safer shopping experience. The Target mobile app was updated with a Wallet payment option that can be used for a contactless checkout.
Another shopping feature provided by Target is the Drive Up service that allows customers to shop online and pick up the order without having to go into the store. Target is working to add more Drive Up parking spaces in store parking lots to accommodate more holiday shoppers.

Target will also be utilizing additional safety measures for customers to restrict high capacity volumes of customers with the Target.com/line feature to show whether your local store has a waiting line. This new Target line feature will also allow customers to reserve a space in line so they can safely wait in their car until they receive a message of when they can enter the store.
Target will also be offering an extension of its price match guarantee from Nov 1 to Dec. 24 that will match select competitors’ prices within 14 days of the purchase. Customers will also be offered the chance to get a price adjustment for any items advertised as a “Black Friday deal,” Target stores, or Target.com if the item is offered for a lower price online or in-store.
