Fall Is Coming, Sooner Than You Think

You know fall is right around the corner when Pumpkin Spice lattes, affectionately dubbed “PSLs,” appear at Starbucks. But fall might be arriving early at the coffee chain this year–execs say the Pumpkin Spice Latte is so popular, they’re planning to release it before Labor Day.

“Starbucks is bringing back the Pumpkin Spice Latte earlier than ever this year. Workers at the coffee chain told Business Insider that the iconic autumnal drink will hit menus on August 27,” Business Insider reported. “Starbucks has not yet officially announced the 2019 Pumpkin Spice Latte launch date. A representative told Business Insider on Monday that the company had nothing to share on the topic at this time.”

However, not everyone was thrilled by the announcement, with many social media users expressing frustration that various seasons–including Christmas and now autumn–are being pushed on consumers months too early. Others joked that the early arrival of fall, and the PSL with it, was “an undeniable sign of climate change.”

The launch date for the Pumpkin Spice Latte has varied over the years. In 2011, it debuted on August 30, according to Business Insider. But by 2014, it came out on August 26th.

Starbucks has not disclosed its reasoning behind selecting a date for the PSL’s debut. Either way, PSL fans around the world are counting down the days.
