Robert Pattinson Officially To Take On Role Of Batman

Robert Pattinson, who rose to fame as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” movies, has been tapped to play Batman. Warner Bros. apparently closed the deal with Pattinson earlier this month and will start production on the film this summer. The next “Batman” movie is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.

Pattinson was selected for the role by new “Batman” director Matt Reeves. The runner-up for the role was allegedly Nicholas Hoult, a 29-year-old British actor. Both Pattinson and Hoult went through test screenings for the role, with the former vampire being crowned the new Batman in the end.’

Many fans believe Pattinson has the right level of “broodiness” for the part.

Not much is known about the plot of the new “Batman” movie, and Pattinson has told reporters he “absolutely” can’t discuss the project. Reeves, however, has dropped hints that he’s developing a new villain for the next installment.

“You can’t have Batman without a villain,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter. “There will be a rogues gallery.”

The last actor to play Batman was Ben Affleck, who walked away from the role after starring in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Justice League.” Reeves said Affleck’s departure gave him the opportunity to recreate the role for a younger, up-and-coming Batman.
