Last year, Nothing, a new company making waves in the tech industry, released their Ear 1 true wireless earbuds. Nothing’s design prides itself on its no-frills nature, and its CEO, Carl Pei, announced back in March that that no-frills nature would be extending to smartphones this summer. With summer right around the corner, the full release date and price for this minimalist device may have leaked.

According to a leak picked up by 9to5Google, the Nothing Phone 1 may be releasing on July 21, 2022. The leaker sites release information obtained from a European electronics retailer. In addition to the release date, the device is rumored to cost roughly €500 at launch (approximately $534.08 USD). Based on the price and what we currently know of the phone’s specs, including its Snapdragon processor, the Phone 1 will likely be a roughly mid-range device, offering plenty of processing power and an open-source design without overburdening users with bloatware or unnecessary features.

According to Pei, as well as Nothing’s head of design Tom Howard, the device itself will feature a frame made entirely of recycled aluminum, the back of which will be completely transparent for an extra stylistic touch. The device is also confirmed to have full wireless charging capability, though it isn’t currently known if it’ll feature reverse charging or how fast the charging is.
