Love Your Hair And It Will Love You Back

Recently I’ve been doing everything I can to take care of my hair so it can flourish. The ultimate goal is for my hair to (finally!) grow past my neck, but for now, my goal is to keep it nice and healthy. Here are a few tips on how to maintain healthy hair.

If your hair is usually dry like mine is, it’s important to keep it moisturized so it won’t break. Also, you shouldn’t wash it too often. Overwashing will cause it to dry out even more because you’ll strip your hair of its natural oils. To keep my hair clean in between washes, I co-wash or use a dry shampoo if I have braids in.

Never use a towel to dry your hair unless it’s cotton-based. A regular towel will rip your hair out and cause split ends because of its roughness. I use a cotton t-shirt to dry my hair.

If you plan to use heat, it’s VITAL that you use a heat protectant before doing so. Heat damage is not fun, you guys. I would know this. I generally avoid heat unless I use my blow dryer on the lowest setting.

Healthy hair starts from within. Eat right, drink lots of water, and exercise if you want to see results in your hair. Your best bet is to find food that has plenty of biotin and protein.

You’ll also want to create a hair regimen and stick to it. Find out what products work for you and what doesn’t. Lastly, be patient and love your hair. It’ll always love you back.
