Cardi B and Joey B get political for Elle interview

The rapper known for speaking her mind with no apologies, Cardi B, celebrates Elle cover with Democrat presidential candidate, Joe Biden. Cardi B has an open conversation with the president-elect about his platform and the surrounding political environment featured by Elle for the September 2020 edition.

Cardi B and Biden get familiar before diving into the serious stuff, Biden also virtually introduces his daughter Ashley who is a big Cardi B fan. After the brief introduction, Biden jokes around explaining Ashley used to call him Joey B when she was growing up and hints that he might be related to Cardi.

Biden admires Cardi for her generosity in donating $1 million towards coronavirus (COVID-19) relief and notes that a majority of cases are due to people not taking the recommended health precautions. Biden asks Carbi about her interests in politics and she doesn’t hold back.

Cardi says it plain and clear saying, “I just want Trump out. His mouth gets us in trouble so much.” Cardi feels like Trump is lying to Americans and pretending that everything is OK in a global pandemic.

Cardi goes onto express her interest in free Medicare and it’s important for people to have access to healthcare through the COVID-19 pandemic. Cardi is also calling for free college and racial injustice.

Biden asks Cardi about what her fans seem to be concerned about in the 2020 election and she responds that they’re interested in free Medicare and college. Cardi also notices that there are less after-school programs now compared to when she was younger.

Biden explains that he was able to attain funding after-school programs with nearly $20 billion for the boys and girls clubs and resulted in a lowered crime rate. With the lowered crime rate people believed it wasn’t an issue that doesn’t need funding and people decided they didn’t want to pay taxes for the programs anymore.

Cardi B goes onto explaining the issue of race equality explaining that Black people aren’t looking for sympathy and are only asking for equality. Biden expresses his optimism in more young people being one of the most engaged generations in history for racial equality.
