The Smart Hairbrush
A new hairbrush may soon take the place of your hairdresser’s advice. In a collaboration from hair experts at Kerastase and L’Oreal unveiled at CES 2017, the new brush is called the Hair Coach Powered by Withings. The brush has a light-weight handle and its bristles are made of boar and nylon. It contains a microphone that listens as you brush your hair.
It is splash proof and has conductivity sensors, which tell whether your hair is wet or dry when you are brushing. The Kerastase Hair Coach captures the hair’s sound waves to identify your hair’s manageability, frizziness, dryness, split ends and breakage. It is the world’s first smart hairbrush and allows you to track your hair’s health over time. The brush’s results are sent to your smartphone, which allows you to determine where your hair could be improved. The brush also tells you how to properly brush your hair. Withings developed the hardware, while L’Oréal-owned Kérastase provided its expertise in professional hair care on the development and design of the brush along with recommendations in the app.
It will be on sale in the fall of 2017 and will retail for around $200. The brush received the 2017 International CES Innovation Award, which celebrates outstanding product design and engineering in new consumer technology products. You will no longer have to spend lots of money on overpriced hair products.
