Do you ever find yourself overly conencted? Maybe you find yourself constantly on social media or maybe you find yourself typing away for work on your laptop even when you’re at the dinner table. In today’s world, we find ourselves to be overly connected and not enjoying our so-called “free time” anymore. But when we sit back and put our phone or laptops down, book a plane ticket and actually enjoy our surroundings you just might find what life is really all about. And there is one secret destination where you can go to unwind, unplug, relax, and just enjoy life and that hidden gem is called Okinawa!
Okinawa is located at the southern point of Japan. It’s made up of hundreds of islands! Okinawa is a very special destination and it’s people have so much to teach those who visit the island. The people are renowned for longevity due to their diet, constant activity and bright/positive outlook on life which is refreshing. The tropical climate is where vegetation and foliage of all kinds, hundreds of animals, beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and uncharted jungles thrive.
The best way to access this gorgeous group of islands is a quick 3-hour flight from Tokyo!
Tracy in the video above was one of those people who found it very hard to unplug and put work aside. She is always on the go with back to back meetings and lots of calls. She’s constantly on the phone no matter where she goes. But when Tracy was personally invited to embark on a whole new journey that would essentially change her outlook on life she decided to take a trip and see what Okinawa was all about!
When she got there she met with a lady named Sumiko who is one of the island’s elders. Sumiko is 98 years old and is positive and full of life. She shared her secret to a long and happy life with Tracy and it really put things into perspective for her. Sumiko grows her own vegetables and eats what she grows in her garden. She exercises every single day and makes sure that she takes the time to enjoy the simple things that her surroundings (the island of Okinawa) has to offer her each and every day.
People on the island are just so happy. They are happy with what they have and happy with their surroundings. Okinawa is truly a unique travel destination where so many truths and be told and secrets to life can be unlocked….your journey awaits!
