Getting Ready For A Weekend Of Action-Packed Sports
The 119th U.S. Open golf championship began Thursday at Pebble Beach, providing as scenic a site for competition as there is in the sport.
Brooks Koepka is the two-time defending champion; only Willie Anderson (190-05) won the tournament three years in a row. Koepka was tied for 16th after the first round, four shots behind leader Justin Rose.
How can you see the U.S. Open? How can you not? This event will be well-covered.
Catch Friday’s second round on FS1 from 12:30-7:30 p.m. ET, and then on Fox from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Fox continues on Saturday from 12-10 p.m. and brings it home with Sunday’s final round from 2-10 p.m.
What else might keep your heiner in the recliner? Not NASCAR’s top line. The paint-swappers are off for Father’s Day (Happy Father’s Day, one and all) and return a week hence for the second half of the season. The Xfinity Series continues, however, in Iowa, on Sunday on FS1 at 5:30 p.m.
The United States Women’s National Team gets back into action on Sunday at the Women’s World Cup in France. The USWNT flattened Thailand 13-0 in its opener, drawing all manner of comment about sportsmanship, and now goes up against Chile. Fox will show this match from Paris at noon.
The eight-team College World Series (is college still in session?) begins Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska and continues Sunday with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. ESPN’s Saturday games are Texas Tech-Michigan at 2 p.m. and Arkansas-Florida State at 7 p.m. EST Sunday brings Vanderbilt-Louisville at 2 p.m. on ESPN and Mississippi State-Auburn at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2.
