This week, the Pittsburgh Steelers cut a deal with the Chicago Bears: in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick, the Bears could have the Steelers’ wide receiver, Chase Claypool. Claypool’s acquisition is another component in the Bears’ ongoing efforts to bolster their offensive lineup ahead of the 2023 season.

“You can never have enough weapons and guys that help your quarterback gain confidence,” Bears first-year general manager Ryan Poles told reporters on Tuesday. “I know a lot of the guys are starting to make plays for us. Adding another receiver is going to allow him to continue to grow and gain that confidence.”

As a Steeler of several years, departing the team has been a bit bittersweet for Claypool, but he posted on his Twitter that he intends to go off with a smile. “I will always have an unbelievable amount of love for Steelers Nation and the organization that drafted me out of Notre Dame. I am beyond grateful for the amazing people in Pittsburgh for embracing me & the lifelong memories made. Now… Back to business in the Midwest.”
