Recently, the New England Patriots have been testing driving a few different quarterbacks in an effort to find their steadfast starter. The most recent candidates were Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, both of whom were given a chance to lead things off during Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears. However, at least at the time of writing, Patriots coach Bill Belichick is still undecided on who should be the starting quarterback in their next game against the New York Jets.

“I guess when Sunday comes, we’ll know,” Jones said after Monday’s game. “I’ve been in this situation before, and I’m just going to try to help the team. Whatever my role is, I’ll be ready, and I’ll give it 100 percent.”

When asked about the current state of his health, percentage wise, Jones said “I don’t really do the whole percentage thing. You are either able to play or not. In the NFL, you don’t get any credit for playing hurt or not, and there’s no excuses. So I felt like I was good to go. With time, it will get better. I’ve just got to play better.”

As for Zappe, he had a similar attitude to Jones. “I prepare like I have every other week, like I was one play away. It’s the same thing I’m going to do this week.”
