A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
We all want to watch football. Even the NFL preseason. It’s as close as we can get right now, so prepare yourself for seeing a lot of players now that you won’t be seeing come September.
It’s the second week of preseason games for most teams, so you might get a series or two out of the starters. After that? Prospects, hopefuls and hangers-on. So be it. They’ll warm the bench while you comfortably deposit your heiner in the recliner.
Crack open that Weekend Six-Pack on Saturday with a triple-header of NFL, all on NFL Network.
At 3 p.m. ET, it’s the Tennessee Titans vs. the Carolina Panthers. Panthers QB Cam Newton is still nursing aches and pains and isn’t likely to play. Which means…
You can defer your heiner/recliner act until 7 p.m. when the Indianapolis Colts play the Dallas Cowboys. Colts QB Andrew Luck is still sidelined, so you won’t see him. Which means…
You can wait until 10 p.m. for the Denver Broncos-San Francisco 49ers game.
Two more on Sunday – the Atlanta Falcons visit the Pittsburgh Steelers at 4 p.m. on NFL Network. No Le’Veon Bell for the Steelers – he can’t bring himself to work for a mere $12 million this season. Not yet, anyway. And at 8 p.m. on NFL you get the New Orleans Saints-Los Angeles Chargers.
It’s a little hard to believe, but the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are on TV for the 311th time this season. The Sox lead the Yanks in the American League East. Saturday, TBS, 1:30 p.m.
Lastly, we recommend the Wyndham Classic. This is the last chance for golfers on the PGA Tour to qualify for the postseason. ABC shows the final round beginning at 3 p.m.
Kind of grim? Well, yeah. But cheer up. College football kicks off next weekend.
