Your Weekend Sports Lineup
The first round of the NFL draft is in the books, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. The NFL has turned what was once a day-long operation into three days of festivities, and you can join in by turning on your TV and planting that heiner in the recliner.
Friday night brings rounds two and three of the meat market. You can watch it on almost any TV outlet except PBS. Round two begins at 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on NFL Network, Fox, ESPN and ESPN2.
We move to the lesser-known players on Saturday at noon for rounds four through seven. ESPN, ABC, NFL Network will expend their pixels on these four rounds. This is the first time ABC will simulcast ESPN’s coverage. Is there no escape? We may have to go to Canada to avoid the draft.
The PGA Tour finds itself way down yonder in New Orleans for the Zurich Classic. This is a team event with a couple of different formats. It’s best-ball competition on Saturday, alternate shot on Sunday. CBS shows this on Saturday from 3-6 p.m. and again on Sunday with the same time coordinates.
NASCAR visits Talladega Superspeedway for Xfinity Series and Monster Cup Energy Series races (no Camping World trucks this weekend). Sunday’s GEICO 500 heads out for Lap 1 of 188 at 2 p.m. on Fox.
Game 1 of the Boston Bruins-Tampa Bay Lightning series in the second round of the NHL playoffs is Saturday at 3 p.m. on NBC. And three NBA series can be closed out on Friday night, with two on ESPN (Cleveland Cavaliers-Indiana Pacers, 8 p.m., Oklahoma City Thunder-Utah Jazz at 10:30 p.m.) Game 7 of the Milwaukee Bucks-Boston Celtics series is Saturday at 8 p.m. on TNT.
You’ve got a lot to watch. Get busy!
