World Of Sports For Your Weekend
The World Cup moved into its quarterfinal round on Friday morning, and you will have missed the first game if you were waiting for this blog to tell you what it was and where to see it.
But by now you know whether France speed handled Uruguay’s tight defense. And you will try to hunker down on this pre-weekend afternoon to watch another defensive-minded side, Brazil, take on high-scoring Belgium. That one is at 2 p.m. ET on FS1.
You will have more time to relax and enjoy the World Cup on Saturday. So grab that bowl of cornflakes, plop your heiner in the recliner and take in the beautiful game. England and Sweden start the fun at 10 a.m. on Fox, followed by Russia and Croatia at 2 p.m., also on Fox.
As it is the end of the Fourth of July week, our friends on the PGA Tour are playing A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. CBS shows the third round from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday and at the same time on Sunday.
The guys who go round and round in NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup series visit Daytona for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. NBC covers the race on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
And, lastly, there is baseball. Sunday night, ESPN brings us the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Los Angeles Angels at 8 p.m. As we type, the Dodgers are a half-game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West, while the Angels are 11 back in the American League West. Still, a local rivalry is a rivalry.
Enjoy the visual feasts.
