Taylor Swift is first-ever Woman Of The Decade

Taylor Swift has been named Artist of the Year plenty of times. But what about Woman of the Decade? Billboard plans to bestow the award on Swift at the 2019 Women in Music awards.

Billboard said the period between 2010 and 2019 was extraordinarily successful for Swift, who turns 30 in December. All five of her albums she released this decade reached #1 on the Billboard Charts. Her recent album, “Lover,” received three Grammy nominations. Billboard called Swift “one of the most accomplished musical artists of all time over the course of the 2010s.”

The Women in Music event will also bestow Canadian singer Alanis Morrisette with an “Icon Award,” in recognition for her nearly thirty-year career in the music industry. Billboard also plans to recognize rapper Nicki Minaj as a “Game Changer.”

“Billboard’s Women in Music is an annual opportunity for us to celebrate undeniably influential women from across the industry. This year, with honorees like Alanis Morissette, Brandi Carlile, Desiree Perez and Nicki Minaj, we are excited to highlight a diverse group of women pushing limits and breaking
boundaries,” Hannah Karp, an editorial director at Billboard, said.

The event is taking place December 12 in Hollywood, and will be streamed live on YouTube starting at 9 PM Eastern Time.
