Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal are all coming to Switch.
The Persona series of video games have become one of the beloved (and profitable) series of Japanese-developed RPGs in the modern gaming scene. The modern “trilogy” of Persona games, including Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 have all been smash hit successes, each bigger than the last. Ever since the introduction of the protagonist of Persona 5 to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, fans have been asking Nintendo to sign off on official Switch ports of the games so they can reach a wider audience.

This morning, the request was officially granted. During a Nintendo Direct Mini presentation, Nintendo announced that the definitive versions of all three games will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch. Persona 5 Royal, an enhanced version of Persona 5 originally released for PlayStation consoles, will be releasing first on October 25, with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable to follow at later, unspecified dates. These ports will feature all of the extra downloadable content that was sold separately in the original release, though a precise price has not been divulged.

“Save others from distorted desires by donning the mask of a Phantom Thief in the critically acclaimed, genre-defining story of Persona 5 Royal, with previously released downloadable content included,” Nintendo said in a press release. “Plus, there’s an urban legend that your soulmate might appear if you stare into a Nintendo Switch system on a rainy night … in Persona 4 Golden. Unfamiliar stillness swallows the city, people turn into eerie coffins and otherworldly monsters called Shadows swarm in Persona 3 Portable, which also features alternate protagonist routes!”
The port of Persona 5 Royal will be releasing concurrently with the ports to other modern platforms, including Xbox consoles and PC.
