Wednesday beat out Stranger Things for most hours watched in its premiere week.

Last week saw the Netflix premiere of Wednesday, a series set in an updated version of the classic Addams Family franchise. The series stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams who, after attacking bullies harassing her brother, is sent off to a boarding school for supernatural youths, stumbling upon a murder mystery in the process.

The new series has proven extremely successful for Netflix, scoring 341.2 million hours of user viewing around the world in its premiere week. Not only is this an impressive showing in its own right, it’s also a record-breaker: Wednesday has officially overtaken one of Netflix’s biggest series, Stranger Things, for most premiere week hours watched on an English-speaking show. Squid Game still holds a commanding lead overall with multilingual shows factored in, with 571.76 million hours viewed in its premiere week.

According to Netflix’s internal metrics, Wednesday was the number 1 most-viewed show in at least 83 countries in its premiere week, with around 50 million households estimated to have watched at least one episode.

“Thank you to everyone involved/everyone who was supportive throughout the process,” Ortega wrote on her Twitter following the premiere. “I hope the show is an easy, entertaining watch if you’re up for it.”
