Monica Lewinsky Warns Against Internships
Monica Lewinsky became a household name in the 1990s when she, a young White House intern, had an affair with the President of the United States, Bill Clinton. Nearly two decades later, Lewinsky has a sense of humor about her youthful indiscretions. On Sunday, author Adam Grant tweeted a general question to fans: “What’s the worst career advice you’ve ever received?”
“An internship at the white house will be amazing on your resume,” Lewinsky replied, adding a wide-eyed emoji to her response.
This is not the first time Lewinsky has joked about her past on Twitter. In May, Florida Senator Marco Rubio corrected factual errors in a “Politico” article about his stance on tax cuts, sniping that the article was written, “by an intern.” Lewinsky retweeted the article and quipped, “Blaming the intern is so 1990’s,” along with an eye-rolling emoji.
Also in May, a Millenial Twitter user named Bailey wrote, “Idk who @MonicaLewinsky is but her name gets stuck in my head a lot so I guess she important and we should be friends.” Lewinsky replied to the tweet, joking that she was “the girl from over 125 rap songs.”
Not only does Lewinsky has a sense of humor, but she also seems to have learned from her mistakes. The now-forty-something has kept a low profile and stayed out of trouble since her indiscretion with Clinton was exposed in 1997.
