Loris Karius Has Lackluster Performance

The Champions League Final took place this past weekend between Liverpool and Real Madrid and tensions were high. Liverpool’s key player, Mohammed Salah, was injured leaving him unfit to continue the match, Gareth Bale had one of the most beautiful goals in UCL history, and a fan even ran onto the field. But none of this compared to Liverpool’s goalkeeper Loris Karius’s lackluster performance.

Within the first half of the game, Karius made a careless pass and Madrid was able to score making the goalless game 1-0. He also fumbled a long-range shot allowing it into the back of the net. Liverpool fans were devastated watching the series of events unfold. At the final whistle, Karius buried his face into the ground. But the shame continued off the field. Karius and his family have received threats and hate messages after the match in Kiev. Merseyside Police made a statement saying, “The force takes social media posts of this nature very seriously and any offenses identified will be investigated.”

He tweeted an ‘infinite’ apology to his teammates and fans for letting them down.
