Highways Of The Future
America’s roads are aging and due for an upgrade. Forget about filling potholes and repaving because the streets of tomorrow will be radically different than they are today.
Happily there are new highways on the horizon to make your journey even sweeter. And the first up is electric recharging roads. Recently, ‘Highways England’ announced that they will begin testing wireless recharging lanes for electric vehicles. Cars and trucks will be fitted with compatible tech that will receive and generate electricity from cables buried under the road.
Over the next five years the British government has proposed $1B+ pledges. South Korea is already using a similar system with a seven-mile stretch of road used to recharge electric buses as they pass over. So, with that being said, maybe we will be seeing these new changes in the United States sooner rather than later.
