“Hamilton” screen premiere coming sooner than thought

The broadway smash hit by Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Hamilton,” will be making its way from the stage to screen and so you can stream it on Disney Plus. The broadway musical celebrating Alexander Hamilton’s life as one of the founding fathers in American history just in time to celebrate U.S. history.

The original plan to bring Hamilton to the screen was set to be an in-theater event on October 15, 2021 but have changed the plans to bring “Hamilton” to the fans sooner due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. For now, the broadway show has shut down and it’s unclear when they will reopen for live performances.

The production is taking this chance to bring the performance to fans who can’t see the production in-person. Disney paid $75 million for the film rights for “Hamilton” but planning for production is nearly impossible with the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and will be editing three recordings of the broadway show by director Thomas Kail.

Another Miranda musical production, “In The Heights,” was planning on hitting theaters this summer but is delayed until July or June 2021 due to lockdown in response to COVID-19. Miranda said that he is excited to bring “Hamilton” to all the fans on the 4th of July weekend to celebrate the history of America.
